The thirteenth edition of the phenomenally successful Principles of Anatomy and Physiology continues to set the standard for the discipline. The authors maintained a superb balance between structure and function and continue to emphasize the correlations between normal physiology and pathophysiology, normal anatomy and pathology, and homeostasis and homeostatic imbalances. The acclaimed illustration program continues to be refined and is unsurpassed in the market. The thirteenth edition is fully integrated with a host of innovative electronic media, including WileyPLUS (access purchased separately.) No other text and package offers a teaching and learning environment as rich and complete.

For general microbiology laboratory courses Laboratory Experiments in Microbiology features 57 thoroughly class-tested and easily customizable exercises that teach basic microbiology techniques and applications. The manual provides comprehensive coverage of every area of microbiology across diverse disciplines, including the biological sciences, allied health sciences, agriculture, environmental science, nutrition, pharmacy, and various pre-professional programs. The lab manual is the perfect companion to Tortora/Funke/Case's Microbiology: An Introduction, 13th Edition or any introductory microbiology text. The 12th Edition of Laboratory Experiments in Microbiology is easier than ever to navigate and more visually effective with new icons indicating when an exercise addresses the human or environmental microbiome, is investigative, or addresses an ASM guideline. New ASM Thinking Skills outline the steps that help develop laboratory thinking skills. Pre-lab quizzes in Mastering(tm) Microbiology ensure students arrive prepared for each lab, and activities such as Lab and Lecture: Putting It All Together help students see how lab and lecture are integrated.

Research and study in biomechanics has grown dramatically in recent years, to the extent that students, researchers, and practitioners in biomechanics now outnumber those working in the underlying discipline of mechanics itself. Filling a void in the current literature on this specialized niche, Principles of Biomechanics provides readers with a solid grasp of the fundamentals and the enabling procedures of this rapidly expanding field, placing a sharp focus on dynamic phenomena in the area of whole-body biomechanics. Applies Biodynamic Models to Everyday Activities Emphasizing biodynamic modeling and the analysis of human body models, the book begins with a review of gross human anatomy and...

Handbook of Proteolytic Enzymes, Second Edition, Volume 1: Aspartic and Metallo Peptidases is a compilation of numerous progressive research studies on proteolytic enzymes. This edition is organized into two main sections encompassing 328 chapters. This handbook is organized around a system for the classification of peptidases, which is a hierarchical one built on the concepts of catalytic type, clan, family and peptidase. The concept of catalytic type of a peptidase depends upon the chemical nature of the groups responsible for catalysis. The recognized catalytic types are aspartic, cysteine, metallo, serine, threonine, and the unclassified enzymes, while clans and families are groups of homologous peptidases. Homology at the level of a family of peptidases is shown by statistically significant relationship in amino acid sequence to a representative member called the type example, or to another member of the family that has already been shown to be related to the type example. Each chapter discusses the history, activity, specificity, structural chemistry, preparation, and biological aspects of the enzyme. This book will prove useful to enzyme chemists and researchers.
